Who We are
Kenya Pastoralists Community Organization (KePACO), a community-based organization committed to serving the pastoralist communities of West Pokot County, Kenya. Founded by young professionals and religious leaders in 2020, KePACO empowers marginalized communities through peacebuilding, health promotion, sustainable agriculture, and educational support.
Our Core areas
Peace
KePACO is dedicated to fostering peaceful communities by denouncing all forms of violence, combating discrimination, and promoting diversity and non-violence. Through peace campaigns, seminars, and community dialogue, we prioritize human life and unity as the foundations for sustainable harmony in our communities.
Health Promotion
We work to improve community health by advocating against harmful practices like FGM/C, SGBV, and early forced marriages. KePACO promotes primary healthcare, hygiene, sanitation, and disease prevention, including efforts to combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and malnutrition, supporting a healthier future for all.
Sustainable Food Security, agriculture and livelihood
KePACO empowers pastoralist communities by enhancing food security and sustainable livelihoods. We establish demonstration plots, promote the growth of drought-resistant crops, and support environmental conservation, helping communities to build resilience through agricultural skills and business training.
Education Promotion
We are committed to education for all ages, focusing on adult literacy, girl child education, and early childhood development. By advocating for human rights, governance, and democracy, KePACO empowers communities with the knowledge and infrastructure they need to create a brighter future.
Child Protection and intervention During Emergencies
KePACO supports vulnerable children during crises, such as droughts, floods, and other natural disasters. We collaborate with partners to ensure child safety, well-being, and recovery in times of need, upholding the rights and protection of every child in our communities.
